ACCOUNTING
has
long
been
a
staple
at
Golden
Gate
University
dating
back
to
1908.
Former
students
include
partners
in
Big
Four
firms,
entrepreneurs
who
started
their
own
companies,
and
presidents
of
corporations.
Our
programs
reflect
the
University’s
primary
mission
of
practitioner-based
adult
education.
The
accounting
environment
is
changing
rapidly.
The
profession
of
public
accounting
as
defined
solely
by
the
audit
and
tax
function
no
longer
exists.
Most
good-sized
accounting
firms
are
not
accounting
firms
in
the
traditional
sense.
Instead
they
are
high-level
providers
of
various
financial
and
management
advisory
services.
Smaller
firms
have
developed
new
specialties
like
forensic
accounting
and
business
valuations.
Moreover,
these
changes
aren’t
confined
to
accounting
firms.
For
example,
corporate
accountants
now
function
as
internal
financial
advisors
to
their
company’s
management.
Today,
accountants
perform
far
more
roles
with
their
degree
than
ever
before.
