Keeping Your Children Safe Online

The Internet is available to all people, young and old, and provides web browsers with an opportunity to explore a world with only a click of the mouse. However, with the convenience come concerns and risks. These range from giving personal information out to strangers and having financial information become available to communicating via email, instant messaging and posting information online to people who you really don’t know.

Because of these dangers on the Internet, parents need to take steps to ensure that their children are safe when using the Internet. Steps such as monitoring their activities online, installing software to keep them out of “bad neighborhoods” actively discussing what is right and wrong online. However, the responsibility of being safe online is not only parents, but also children need to be alert about where they go online and what information should not be provided.
